Delete Your Account

What will be deleted

When you delete your NowHere account, the following data is removed immediately and permanently:

• Your email address, display name, and password hash.
• All saved places, including names, coordinates, radii, and categories.
• All tasks attached to those places.
• All cloud backups associated with your account.
• Your membership in all groups. If you are the sole owner of a group, the group is also deleted along with all shared lists and their items.
• Pending invitations you have sent or received.
• All registered devices and push tokens associated with your account.
• Your notification preferences and account settings.

Anonymised entries in server access logs (which contain no personal information) may persist for up to 30 days as part of standard log rotation.

Option 1 — Delete directly in the app

This is the fastest method:

1. Open the NowHere app on your device.
2. Tap Settings (bottom navigation bar).
3. Tap Privacy.
4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
5. Confirm the action. Deletion is immediate.

Option 2 — Request deletion by email

If you no longer have access to the app or your device, send an email to privacy@nowheretasks.app from the address registered to your account with the subject line "Account deletion request". Include your registered email address in the body of the message. We will process your request within 5 business days and confirm deletion by reply.

Before you delete

Consider the following before proceeding:

• Export your data first. In the app, go to Settings → Export to save your places and tasks as a JSON file to your clipboard. This is the only way to recover your data after deletion.
• Transfer group ownership. If you own groups that other people rely on, transfer ownership to another member before deleting your account (Settings → Groups → your group → Transfer Ownership). If you delete without transferring, the group and all its shared lists will be permanently deleted.
• Sign out on other devices first if you want to simply stop using the service on one device without losing all your data.

Retention after deletion

All personal data described above is deleted immediately upon confirmation. Residual, fully anonymised data in server access logs is purged within 30 days as part of our standard log rotation cycle. No data that can identify you is retained after that period.

We may retain data that we are required by law to keep (e.g., accounting records). In such cases the data is isolated and not used for any other purpose.

Questions and data requests

You may also request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask for corrections, or exercise any other right under applicable law. All privacy requests go to privacy@nowheretasks.app. We respond within 30 days.
