NowHere uses native OS geofencing (CoreLocation on iOS, GeofencingClient on Android), which monitors a small set of saved places rather than streaming your GPS coordinates. Your real-time position is never uploaded to our servers — only the place coordinates you explicitly save are stored.
Yes. Geofences are registered with the operating system and fire even when the app is closed, in airplane mode, or in areas with no connectivity. Tasks and places are cached on-device for exactly this reason.
Background location permission (Always on iOS, Background on Android) is required so the OS can deliver geofence events while the app is not in the foreground. Without it, reminders only fire when NowHere is open. We use this permission solely to monitor the geofences you configure — nothing more.
Open the app → Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. This permanently removes your places, tasks, backups, group memberships, and account. Deletion is irreversible. You may also request deletion by emailing privacy@nowheretasks.app.
Pending invitations you sent are cancelled. Invitations addressed to your email that you haven't accepted are removed. You are immediately removed from any groups you belonged to.
Not yet. NowHere is available for iOS and Android. A web interface is on our long-term roadmap.
An account is required to sync data across devices, use group features, and store cloud backups. Local geofencing and notifications work on-device regardless.
We collect only what is needed to run the service: your email address, the place names and coordinates you save, your tasks, and device push tokens for notifications. We do not sell your data. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
